The January 2014 edition of the Copa del Café will be our 50th. That´s half a century of junior tennis! When the Copa started in 1963, there was no ranking system, no ATP, no WTA. Three of the four Grand Slam tournaments were played on grass, and players at Australia, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Championships were “amateurs.” There was yet no open tennis! So in these past 50 years tennis has come a long way, and so has the Copa del Café.

By far, the Copa del Café is the oldest junior tennis tournament in all of Latin America. We look forward to continuing our tradition of stellar tennis for boys and girls, amid a festive atmosphere at the courts of the Costa Rica Country Club in Escazú, Costa Rica. The Player Entry List is now open, with many players already registered, representing so far 15 countries.
